At Coastal Dance we offer all styles of dance to produce versatile dancers.

Classical BalletClassical ballet is based on traditional ballet technique and vocabulary. Our students study the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet syllabus which is based on the Russian Vagonava Method & was developed by Christine Walsh ex-Prima Ballerina of the Australian Ballet. Coastal Dance offers serious students the opportunity to sit ballet exams in the ACB syllabus. To be eligible students must take 2 ballet classes a week & be available for the holiday workshop in June/July.  To view the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet website please click HERE

Classical Extension Program – We offer dedicated classical students an extension class with ex-Australian Ballet dancer Jack Hersee. This is an additional class that focuses on classical technique where students are pushed to accelerate their progress.

Jazz – Jazz dance is a classification shared by a broad range of dance styles with moves that include kick, leaps & turns. We offer open jazz classes with progressive exercises that change week to week covering all the aspects of the jazz style.

Tap – Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sound of one’s tap shoes hitting the floor as a percussive instrument. We offer the Tapatak Oz tap syllabus developed by Christine Denny, one of Australia’s leading tap dancers. Students are offered the chance to sit examinations. From 2015, students in years 11 & 12 may use credits obtained in sitting Tapatak Oz exams towards their HSC. To view the Tapatak Oz website please click HERE. Acrobatics – Acrobatics is the performance of balance, agility, and motor coordination. We offer 3 levels of classes for the beginner, intermediate & advanced student. In 2016 Coastal Dance began to teach the Acrobatique syllabus which consists of 12 levels with 28 skills in each level develop all areas of acro dance (including flexibility, strength, balancing, limbering and tumbling) to complement all disciplines!

Contemporary – Contemporary dance draws on both classical ballet and modern dance. Students cover serval methods of contemporary dance including Horton, Graham & Cunningham.

Musical Theatre – Our Musical Theatre class is a fun class that covers all aspects of musical theatre including acting, singing & dancing, where students learn a variety of musical theatre pieces for modern & historic musicals.

Hip Hop – Hip-hop dance is a broad category that includes a variety of urban styles. This is a great class for the social dancer & a fun way to be active.

Singing – We offer group classes for our competition teams & also offer private lessons with our resident singing teacher.
