Coastal Dance offers all styles of dance to produce versatile dancers.
Classical Ballet – Classical ballet is based on traditional ballet technique and vocabulary. In 2023 we have transitioned to offering two complementary syllabi to our students. Our Junior students study the ComDance grades syllabus and our Senior students study the Royal Academy of Dance Major syllabus. Coastal Dance offers serious students the opportunity to sit ballet exams. To be eligible students must take 2 ballet classes a week & be available for additional exam preparation classes.
QB Petit Pointers – QB Petit Pointers is underpinned by the early years learning framework and evidence-based research, providing a program created to complement and enhance each child’s development. The courses are structured to enable class participants of similar stages in development to achieve a range of objectives and skills through real- world lesson themes, enhanced by the magic of ballet. Set within a framework of storytelling, exploration and artistic play. QB Petit Pointers encourages personal expression and development of confidence.At the end of each unit, participants will have successfully developed some of the early foundational skills of ballet.
Jazz – Jazz dance is a classification shared by a broad range of dance styles with moves that include kick, leaps & turns. We offer open jazz classes with progressive exercises that change week to week covering all the aspects of the jazz style.
Tap – Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sound of one’s tap shoes hitting the floor as a percussive instrument. We offer the Tapatak Oz tap syllabus developed by Christine Denny, one of Australia’s leading tap dancers. Students are offered the chance to sit examinations.
Acrobatics – Acrobatics is the performance of balance, agility, and motor coordination. We offer 3 levels of classes for the beginner, intermediate & advanced student.
Contemporary – Contemporary dance draws on both classical ballet and modern dance. Students cover serval methods of contemporary dance including Horton, Graham & Cunningham.
Musical Theatre – Our Musical Theatre class is a fun class that covers all aspects of musical theatre including acting, singing & dancing, where students learn a variety of musical theatre pieces for modern & historic musicals.
Hip Hop – Hip-hop dance is a broad category that includes a variety of urban styles. This is a great class for the social dancer & a fun way to be active.
