ADF Trip 2016

Earlier this month a small group of Coastal Dance seniors travelled down to Sydney to participate in the Australian Dance Festival from the 16th – 19th of September. The event took place over 2.5 days at the Sydney Olympic Park with dancers & choreographers from all over Australia joining together for an inspiring weekend of dance. The festival was a well run event with classes running all day & the nights filled with shows from pre-professional & professional dancers. There was also numerous full-time dance schools from around the country at the event which gave students the opportunity to network with schools that they may want to attend. Senior student Joel Murphy auditioned & was accepted into several full-time dance schools from the Gold Coast, Sydney, the Central Coast & Melbourne. We hope to add this to our yearly calendar & next year we will be opening the trip up to the younger age groups (12 & over).

To finish up our trip headed into the city for a day of sightseeing & shopping with the students on the Monday before returning home that evening. It was a great weekend & just another exciting opportunity Coastal Dance offers our students.

ACB Ballet Exams 2016

Congratulations to our 8 Coastal Dance students who sat their Australian Conservatoire of Ballet exams in August with examiner Valmai Roberts. All of our exam entrants received fantastic results with 2 students achieving distinctions. Miss Kate is now eligible to travel to Melbourne in January to study the senior levels at the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet.

The Australian Conservatoire of Ballet syllabus is based on the Vaganova method & it was developed by ex-Principal of the Australian Ballet, Christine Walsh OBE. After training with the famous Russian ballerina Ai-Gul Gasina, Miss Kate saw the benefits of the Russian method which is why Coastal Dance is currently the only studio on the Southern Gold Coast to offer the Vaganova method.

LOcREaDO Dance Awards

We had a lovely night at the LOcREaDO Dance Program awards with our girls performing their solos & the final group performances.

Congratulations to Holly who won the Group 3 Contemporary award, to Riley who won the Group 2 Teacher award & Joel who won the Group 3 Inspirational Dancer award (selected by his fellow dancers) & the LOcREaDO Dance Program Australia award. We are so proud of our students & thank Loredo for the opportunities he has given them.
